There really can be silver lining to every dark cloud. I have had to drop a class from my schedule because, to be perfectly honest, I procrastinated with homework for this class and when it came time to catch up I just had to much work at my office. I said I wouldn’t procrastinate again with school work but I thought this class would be a cinch to get done, wrong! So I had to give up my scholarship and take a big fat “W” on my transcript. That was really making me upset and feel so guilty but here comes the silver lining.
With one less class I have a tremendous amount of free time now, not to mention a lot less stress too. I have been neglecting my friends and my ward relationships. I have really withdrawn from the ward and being in Primary has left me feeling a bit isolated. With my extra time I decided to remedy the situation. I joined a few groups. I joined a quilting group, a lunch group, and a movie group. My hope is that I can become more involved with my ward and strengthen some friendships in the process.
We have had one quilting class, taught by a sweet sister named Julie Stubbs. She is the best and has so much experience and wisdom. What I love about her is her enthusiasm to share her talent with anyone who wants to join. I admire women like her because they are not afraid to share their talent, as I have learned not everyone is like this. I now know what fat eighths and fat quarters are, how to square an edge, and cut square blocks. It was so fun that I invited my daughters and sister-in-law to join the fun (sorry Whit I have not officially asked you as of this post but I will). Shauntel, Amy and Jennifer are all going to do it and anyone else that wants to do it with us. It is a block of the month quilt so it will take all year. I don’t really like that so I went and bought a quilt pattern and honey bun and jelly rolls (rolls of precut fabric strips) to make another that I can finish sooner. I liked this because it comes with so many adorable fabrics and I just have to cut the blocks from the strips, so fun. I have all ready done that and I am just waiting for my new sewing machine to be delivered so I can start sewing them together and making my quilt blocks. So my first quilt that I started will not be my first quilt completed but I guess that is the way it goes.
We also went to our first movie. We were going to see New in Town but it had left the theater so we saw Inkheart. It is a fun fantasy movie. I was glad because I wanted to see it but no one in my family did, so I got to go with friends. It was a great way to spend time with ladies in the ward. I can’t wait until our lunch group meets. I hope I am not in the midst of midterms or something so I can attend. I am glad to have these opportunities to become a better friend and ward member.
So there is always a silver lining, you just have to look for them and take advantage of them too.

Inkheart is out already?! We had no idea! We for sure want to see it! (Brad not want to see a fantasy movie? preposterous!) Thanks for the info and I'm glad you liked it, chances are we will own it when it comes out on dvd. I can see that even though we haven't even seen it yet.
I am outraged.
I am SO proud of you. A quilt group, movie group AND lunch group! WHAT?!? You are the woman.
Will you email me how much fabric I need. You know how much of each. I want to start looking a little. I kind of have what I want in mind, I hope I can find it. If it's cute and not on sale I don't even care. I'm going to need a pattern for some cute pillows and shams too. Oh and a bed skirt maybe. I could just buy a plain one. I might have to make two quilts with you too, that way I can get Shyann's done in less than a year! What does the one look like that you are going to do now?
Iam happy for you that you found the time to be able to take a quilt class. It has brought me a lot of joy over the years and I hope that you find that same joy. If you are ever in Orem you really need to check out a quilt store called the Americanquilters. You can buy kits there already cut so all that you have to do is come home and sew.
Have fun.
